NICOLA CAHR
Nicola CAHR comes from the very respected breeding program of Gina Manion, one of the mainstays of Arabian breeding in the Midwestern United States beginning in the 1940's. Gina's program was carefully balanced and designed with intensive linebreeding to SKOWRONEK but ample outcrossing through unrelated dam lines. Winraff++ won his Legion of Merit Award in 9 months and 11 shows in 1975 including 16 Championships and Reserves in halter, English and Western Pleasure. He went on to be one of the very best known Arabian Dressage horses of his day. The LAST breeding son of this legendary stallion, NICOLA CAHR is very much a grey version of his famous sire with tremendous reach and fluid movement. His dam was one one of Gina Manion's very best broodmares ~~ and a maternal sister to Cool Jewel, who founded the racing dynasty for Dr. Sam Harrison's successful line of race horses including SAAM, SAAMS COUNT and CHARLIE VALENTINE, all earning the title, 'Race Horse of the Year'. NICOLA CAHR's a large hearted sire with a resting pulse rate of 27 beats per minute…which was taken when he was NOT fit…and after a winter of no activity. For comparison, RO GRAND SULTAN, Becky Hart's legendary World Champion Endurance Horse, when fit had a resting pulse of 27 beats per minute. He had just begun a successful career in competitive trail when his owner broke her leg badly in an accident (not horse related) at home and to give up long distance riding. We acquired him in the spring of 2002 and have been very, very pleased with his foals to date. We are retaining the 2004 colt, PAYBACK WINNING ENCORE, out of Shalimar Zealous since both parents go to Winraff++ in their sire lines. This colt is also 100% Early American Foundation Arabian bloodlines (pre-1940 importations). NICOLA CAHR is siring superb SPORTHORSE / endurance prospects and will be used heavily here at Payback Ranch Arabians in 2005.
